Why download a patch?

Like most programs, Igor is not free from small mistakes. By downloading (and applying) a patch, these mistakes can be fixed. Also, while the game is maintained, new features are also regularly added to make your experience more rewarding. Instead of downloading a new version of the game completely, the patch just contains the differences so it saves you a lot of download time. If you want to see what you get before you start downloading, please read the information in the What's new section.

Which patch do I need?

First, you should find the version of the game you have. This version is shown at startup (See picture below for example). Note that the first version (1.0) does not show its version number at startup. If you don't see a version number, you have 1.0 (Full or Demo). If the text disappears too quickly for you to read, you can use the 'Safe mode Igor' icon in your start menu. The game will then wait for a keypress before clearing the screen.

The version number is always followed by 'Full' or 'Demo'. The free version you can download from this website is 'Demo', while the version you can buy on CD-ROM (or as downloadable) is 'Full'.

Text displayed at startup of game. In this case the version is 1.1 Full.

Once you find the current version of the game that you have, you should download and run the relevant patch below. Note that if there is no patch from your version to the most recent version, you might need to download and run several patches. For example to get from v1.2 to v1.4 you will need to download one patch to upgrade from v1.2 to v1.3, and another to upgrade from v1.3 to v1.4.
